De Nora Deutschland serves the Northern European markets and works in synergy with De Nora Italy for Southern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Africa.

De Nora Deutschland has a state-of-the-art manufacturing and coating production center located in Rodenbach near Frankfurt/Main (Hesse, Germany), which meets all the production requirements of thyssenkrupp nucera as well as the entire De Nora coating portfolio.

De Nora Deutschland is the center of excellence for gas diffusion electrodes (GDE) and catalysts for chlorine, hydrogen, and PEM fuel cells. Founded in 1970 under Heraeus Elektrochemie GmbH, the company was acquired in 1998.

Located in Rodenbach near Frankfurt/Main, De Nora Deutschland (DND) is a center of excellence for Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDE) and catalysts supporting applications in chlorine, hydrogen, and PEM fuel cells. For decades, the site has combined advanced coating production with precision machining and assembly, ensuring consistently high performance and quality across De Nora’s electrode portfolio.
Our mechanical production covers a broad range of machining and manufacturing for membrane cells, anodes, and cathodes in various shapes and dimensions—from a few cm² to several m². Using modern laser and microplasma welding systems with optical seam tracking, alongside milling, drilling, and grinding capabilities, DND delivers exceptional precision and repeatability.


To guarantee the highest standards, we operate under a certified quality management system (DIN EN ISO 9001:2015) and maintain DIN EN ISO 50001 certification for energy efficiency. Sustainability, health, safety, and ethics guide every aspect of our operations, supported by continuous improvement of equipment and processes.
Thanks to our in-house production of Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDE), we can support customers in HCl and NaCl electrolysis (chlor-alkali) for chlorine production, as well as in fuel cell technologies, where GDEs serve as cathodes for oxygen reduction and anodes for hydrogen oxidation. DND also manufactures De Nora’s proprietary DSA® dimensionally stable anodes and LIDA® mixed metal oxide anodes for cathodic protection.
By combining coating, machining, and assembly under one roof, De Nora Deutschland offers complete, integrated solutions with reproducible quality. The site embodies De Nora’s commitment to accessible innovation, reliable performance, and sustainable production—supporting industries that power cleaner energy and safer water worldwide.
