GDEs (gas diffusion electrodes) are suitable for the electrolysis of HCl and NaCl brine for chlorine production when the process involves the use of an “oxygen depolarized cathode” (ODC), which guarantees significant energy savings thanks to the reduction in the overall voltage of the electrolytic cell.
HCl-ODC technology, in particular, allows for greater chlorine purity than conventional electrolysis.
